What caused David Kendall’s death? 

Although David Kendall’s family and close friends confirmed his death, they did not reveal the cause of his demise to the public. In fact, in the Pod Meets World team’s tribute, there was no mention of the medical reason behind his death. However, according to his colleague, he was reportedly battling an undisclosed illness during the past few months. Some former writers and collaborators allegedly hinted online that David was privately battling a difficult health issue. 

Yet, during the difficult final days, he was surrounded by his family and friends. One writer who worked with David reflected that, despite his condition, David remained sharp, funny, and deeply connected to the work he had done throughout his long career. People close to him often came together during his final months to support him. One colleague also called it his “last battle”. Although there is no credible update about what exactly happened to him, David was surrounded by love and friendship during the final moments of his life.

The first public tribute to David Kendall’s death came from the Pod Meets World team. On the show, the lead stars recalled the admired writer and called him “instrumental” in the making of Boys Meets World. They not only called him a creative leader, but also someone who helped shape the young actors into TV stars. At the same time, his work on Growing Pains and Hannah Montana was mentioned. Meanwhile, fans paid tribute to his work. Sharing his tribute, one internet user commented on X, “We’re all so much better for David Kendall having been in the world when we were. Love to Wendy and your sweet family. Safe travels, DK.” Meanwhile, the lead cast of the show said:

“To say that David Kendall was instrumental in the creation of Boy Meets World would be an understatement. He directed, wrote, and executive-produced our show, but also helped mold some of TV’s most memorable sitcoms, from Growing Pains to Hannah Montana. David Kendall built a TV career spanning more than 4 decades. He first rose to fame through his work on Growing Pains. He was the producer and writer of the show for 30 episodes. However, the biggest turning point in his career was Boy Meets World, where he was the writer, director, and executive producer. In fact, he is credited with deepening the emotional storytelling and character development for Seasons 2 and 3. Apart from that, he co-created Melissa and Joey. Eventually, David became the preferred director for youth-focused TV shows. Later, in the 2000s, he directed some of the biggest teen sitcoms, including Victorious, IiCarly Big Time Rush, and That’s So Raven.
