Caleb Williams opened the 2026 NFL season with a massive performance for the Chicago Bears in their impressive first game of the year. Week 2 was quite the opposite, as the quarterback struggled to get his offense going before things took a turn for the worse.

He went down with what appeared to be an agonizing hamstring injury, but Emmanuel Acho called him out for the way he handled it.

Emmanuel Acho Displeased With Caleb Williams’ Reaction After Hamstring Injury

Acho, like most fans watching the game, was legitimately concerned for Williams’ 2026 season when he went down with a hamstring injury against the Minnesota Vikings.

Any time a player is screaming in pain and needs to be carted off the field, it brings into question whether they will be out for the rest of the year. Shortly after, that no longer appeared to be a possibility, and Acho slammed the quarterback for it.

“I’m watching the game live, Caleb Williams, non-contact injury, he goes to the ground, and he lets out a yell, and I’m freaking out,” Acho said. “I hit the group chat and (say) ‘He might be done for the season’… Caleb’s on a cart, tears falling down his face and fist in the air as he cries going back into the tunnel. I hit the group chat again. ‘That’s it, fellas, he’s done, it’s a wrap, pray for him.'”

Acho then revealed he prayed for Williams, but what followed next irked him: “Before I know it, Caleb Williams is walking on his own power out the tunnel. So what was all them tears for? Caleb, what was all that screaming for?… I’m also just like, come on, Caleb, it’s Sunday, I had a lot of things to pray for. I’m going to need my prayer back.”

Acho is clearly suggesting that Williams overreacted to his injury, which seemed potentially season-ending at first, but turned out to likely be relatively minor.

The young star had the theatrics of a player dealing with a major concern with the way he came off the field, but walking somewhat normally on his own back out of the locker room changes the optics.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero confirmed after the game that it’s not an overly serious injury. “Caleb Williams avoided any major injury to his hamstring Sunday, tests confirmed today,” reported Pelissero.

Not only will he avoid a long-term injury, but he apparently has also not been ruled out for next week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. This is great news for the Bears, who have their sights set on competing for a Super Bowl, but Acho is now concerned about Williams’ ability to lead.

“Caleb is a fearless leader. Caleb, you are literally him. You are one of the best quarterbacks in all of football. My fearless leader, you’re going out crying on a hamstring?” questioned Acho.

Whether or not he was being overly dramatic, the Chicago fans can breathe a sigh of relief that their quarterback isn’t expected to miss much time, if any at all. He also gets an extra day to rest with their Week 3 game against the Eagles coming on Monday Night Football.

Williams, if he plays in Week 3, will enter the contest ranked ninth on PFN’s QB Impact Metric, with a grade of 80.1.
