Today could mark Soxtober’s most historic moment yet.
With a win over the Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS this afternoon at the South Side’s Rate Field, the Chicago White Sox would clinch a playoff series victory at home for the first time since 1906.
For the record, that was three whole years before the world’s current oldest person Ethel Caterham (who is now 117!) was born.
In order to secure the dub, Chicago will send southpaw opener Sean Newcomb (2-5, 3.09 ERA) on the hill. As for Cleveland, they’re starting Daniel Espino (0-0, 4.11 ERA) in their last-ditch attempt to keep their season alive.

And, while we don’t want to rain on Chicago and noted fan Pope Leo XIV’s parade, The Post believes Cleveland has the edge today.
