During a panel at Create & Cultivate’s On Her Own Terms: Halle Berry on Menopause, Aging & Women’s Health, the actress opened up about how she’s embracing her “new face and body.” Halle said that she’s proud of accepting that and does not want to turn herself into “a monster” with all kinds of things that can be done today.

According to reports, Halle Berry’s fiance, Van Hunt, is a musician. He began playing instruments when he was just a kid. He started with the drums at the age of 7. He followed it up by learning how to play the saxophone, the keyboard, and lastly the guitar.
Now, Hunt is a Grammy-winning artist who has released eight albums and two EPs so far. His latest EP, titled A Heart Full of Questions, came out in May 2025. It was in 2007 that Hunt won the Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for Family Affair. It was a tribute to Sly and the Family Stone that appeared on the album Different Strokes by Different Folks. For his song Dust, Hunt was nominated for Best Urban/Alternative Performance.
Despite his interest in music, Hunt attended Morehouse College to pursue English, but left before completing his degree. In an October 2020 interview, Hunt admitted that if he did not make it in music, he would probably be working in “applied mathematics or astrophysics.” However, in the same interview, he also admitted that he was actually a terrible student.
Halle Berry and Van Hunt’s relationship
In September 2020, Halle Berry and Van Hunt went public with their relationship when the former shared a photograph of herself wearing a black T-shirt bearing the name of her fiance. In the caption of the post, she wrote, “Now ya know,” followed by a red heart and foot emoji. For those wondering why Halle included a foot emoji, it was a reference to a July 2020 post where she could be playing footsie with an unknown man.
In a February 2022 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Halle Berry opened up about how she had a missed connection with her fiance. Notably, Hunt had performed on the first season of Ellen’s show in 2004, before the actress appeared on an episode later that same season. Halle said:
“We’ve talked about this, he and I. A few days ago, when I knew I was coming here, I said, ‘You know, I was on her first season,’ and he goes, ‘So was I,’ and I said, ‘You mean you could’ve found me 20 years ago and saved me all this misery I’ve been through?'”
Halle Berry even joked and told host Ellen DeGeneres that she “would’ve saved her three marriages” if she had them on the same episode. However, Hunt revealed in June 2025 that he had already proposed to the actress but was still waiting for her response. Explaining herself, Halle Berry said:
“We should get married, but it’s not because we feel like we have to. I think it’s something that we would like to do just because we want that expression.”
In February 2026, Halle Berry said that people had some “confusion” about whether or not she accepted Van Hunt’s proposal during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. To this, she clarified that they were indeed engaged by saying:
“I did not say ‘no’; we just don’t have a date. Of course, I said yes, I would marry him. He did put a little ring on it.”
