One of the most successful supermodels of all time sat down with HBO for the revealing new documentary series, Bring Me the Beauties

He became involved with a sinister cult in the 1980s.

Bring Me the Beauties: A Model Cult is an enthralling new three-part docuseries on HBO Max that has just started today (Tuesday, 2nd June) in the UK.

The eye-opening programme follows the life of A-list supermodel Hoyt Richards, who provides a first-hand account of his entanglement with a uniquely sinister wellness cult known as Eternal Values and its enigmatic leader, Frederick von Mierers.

Richards, 64, gives an exclusive interview for the series and explains how von Mierers, a New York socialite and former model himself who went on to become a psychic medium claiming to be possessed by alien energy, exploited a group of wealthy and beautiful followers out of millions of dollars.

However, von Mierers’ guidance also helped Richards’ career skyrocket and he soon became one of the biggest names in modelling after a chance encounter with the cult leader when he was just 16.

With new episodes of this must-watch true crime series releasing on Tuesdays, let’s take a closer look at what we know about Richards’ life now.

What is Hoyt Richards doing now?

Richards achieved international fame in the 1980s and 90s as one of the top names in modelling. Some describe him as the first male supermodel, and he worked alongside the likes of Cindy Crawford and Fabio Lanzoni.

In 2018, he first revealed his involvement with Eternal Values, which grew more and more cult-like throughout the 1980s and believed that a UFO would save them from the world’s end during the turn of the millennium. Richards left the group in 1999 and it didn’t take long for the rest of its followers to disband.

After leaving the cult behind, Richards continued to model and also branched out into acting. He made a cameo appearance with Fabio in Fabio in The Exorcist III and played a model in the 1998 rom-com Six Days, Seven Nights, which stars Harrison Ford.

He also appeared in a 2002 episode of the short-lived sitcom Three Sisters and a 2007 episode of CSI: Miami.

In more recent years, Richards has also added screenwriting and producing to his credentials. He co-wrote, produced, and starred in the 2014 comedy Dumbbells, which reunited him with Fabio starring as himself, and notably featured Family Matters’ Jaleel White playing a cult leader.

Is he married or single?

According to the website Who’s Dating Who, Richards was married to actress Amy Lindsay from 2005-2009. He is currently believed to be unmarried and single.

However, he keeps his personal life extremely private, so it is possible that he has a partner who prefers to stay out of the spotlight.
