However, even amid such a dire condition, Joni was able to spend her last moments before death at her home in Bedford, Texas. Joni’s untimely demise sparked the chatter around her successor. The talks have been fuelled by her son, Jonathan and daughter-in-law, Suzy’s estrangement from her.

Joni Lamb, the president of Daystar Television Network, chucked out the plan for the company’s smooth functioning in her absence. She established a formal continuity plan before her sudden passing on May 7, 2026. In the official statement confirming her death, the Daystar Television Network shared that Joni had collaborated with the board of directors to put a succession plan and an executive leadership team in place. The company’s statement could be read as:

“Previously, (Joni Lamb) worked with the board to ensure an executive leadership team was in place so that the ministry would continue uninterrupted…We will keep broadcasting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation, alongside you.”

Besides Daystar’s successorship, interest has also been sparked in Joni Lamb’s personal asset division. Joni for a long time. Loni’s first husban, Marcus Lamb is deceased, and her second husband, Doughlas Weiss is still alive. She is a mom of three children, Jonathan Lamb, Rebecca Lamb, and Rachel Lamb Brown, whom she shares with her first husband. However, her only son, Jonathan and his wife, Suzy have been estranged from her for a long time. Loni even cut her son off from the family business by firing him from Daystar. In most cases, the surviving family members receive a share of the deceased’s estate.

However, the long-term estrangement points to the possibility of a will that might not be favourable to her son. Notably, specific details regarding the division of her personal estate, estimated at around USD 40 million and including a multi-state real estate portfolio valued at over USD 11 million, remain a private legal matter and have not been publicly disclosed.

The estrangement between Joni Lamb and her son, Jonathan Lamb, alongside his wife, Suzy Lamb, stemmed from the couple’s allegations of a child sexual abuse cover-up against her. According to the duo, Joni didn’t take appropriate steps regarding the alleged sexual abuse of their young daughter by a male family member of the Lambs and instead sided with the man to protect the family’s reputation. Jonathan claimed he was demoted and eventually fired because he refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that would prevent him from speaking out about the abuse.

According to Daystar’s official statement, Joni had been dealing with prolonged major medical issues. But chose to keep her battle private. The network mentioned that amid that, she faced another setback as a new back injury deteriorated her condition. In turn, it created more complications that led to a serious health situation in the days leading up to her death. Despite the attempts from doctors and good wishes from her supporters, her health continued to decline. The statement could be read as:

“The back injury compounded those challenges and led to a more serious medical situation than anyone anticipated. Despite the dedicated efforts of her medical team and the prayers of so many around the world, her condition worsened in the last few days. “Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning. We grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.”
