Angelina Jolie and her six children have lived in the mansion since 2017, and the actress once revealed she bought the lavish property to stay close to her ex-husband, Brad Pitt. The estate sprawls across 2.1 acres and boasts panoramic views across the famous Griffith Observatory and Pacific Ocean. Speaking to British Vogue, Angelina revealed the reason behind purchasing the home and said:
“I wanted it to be close to their dad, who is only five minutes away.”

The sale of Angelina’s iconic property comes after her ongoing legal battle with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, over their previously shared property, the French winery, Château Miraval. The couple owned the winery, and after they split, a legal battle over it has continued.
Pitt and Jolie acquired Château Miraval in 2008 through their respective companies. Their ownership interests were later adjusted so that each effectively held 50 percent. It is the same estate where the couple got married in 2014. However, things changed after Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, and since then the battle over the winery continues.
In September 2021, she sold Nouvel, the company through which she held her interest in Miraval, to Tenute del Mondo. In 2022, Pitt filed a lawsuit claiming that Jolie sold her stake to an investment firm without his consent. She also alleged that negotiations for Pitt to buy her stake collapsed over a proposed nondisclosure agreement. Despite Jolie and Pitt’s divorce being finalized in 2024, the legal battle continued.
As per the latest reports, Pitt’s legal team has requested a record detailing Jolie’s income between 2017 and 2019. Although Jolie has agreed to provide some of her financial records from 2020 to 2021, her attorneys said the request cannot be extended, as it would violate her financial privacy. The attorneys also argued that Jolie’s income is not relevant to the central dispute over her 2021 sale of her stake in the French estate.
But Pitt’s legal team argued that Jolie’s finances after her separation from Pitt in 2016 were relevant as she sought financial independence, which led her to sell her interest in Miraval. Pitt’s lawyers had sought records involving Jolie’s income from film roles, brand partnerships, and other professional work.
But Jolie’s team argued that her desire for “financial independence” was about separating her life and finances from Pitt. They also revealed that the actress was not at all in any financial distress. Jolie was hoping to leave Los Angeles after the youngest of her six children turned 18. She previously told The Hollywood Reporter that, under the terms of her divorce settlement with Pitt, she was required to remain in California until all of their children reached the milestone age.
The actress then said she wanted to head back to Cambodia, the town where she grew up. She said she would return to Cambodia to do more work with her foundation and conduct fieldwork. Speaking about her relocation, Jolie said:
“I am here because I have to be here from a divorce, but as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave.”
