According to the lawsuit, Bryan threatened to damage Dolly Parton’s business relationships unless he received payment. The court filing seeks to prevent Seaver from interfering with the estate’s business and asks for damages, including compensatory and punitive damages to be determined at trial.

Seaver has strongly denied that the messages cited in the lawsuit were threats, while acknowledging that he made many of the statements attributed to him. Suggesting foul play, he told TMZ:
“We remain unshakably resolved to fulfill her final directive to protect her family, and we refuse to be intimidated by those whose actions we believe are being taken in bad faith and with the intent to profit from the life of someone who willingly gave so much.”
In a separate statement, Seaver described himself as a career soldier and military contractor who conducts arms deals for foreign governments. He said the messages were private exchanges with Nozell, whom he considered a friend, and characterized them as “two guys having rage talk and crying on the phone together while we were grieving.”
While he stood by many of his comments, Seaver argued they had been taken out of context. He maintained that his statements reflected his background and frustration, rather than an intention to carry out violence.
The legal dispute marks a sharp turn for a nephew who had a longstanding personal and professional relationship with Parton. He was also the one who announced her death.
