Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were seen on a rare night out, making their first public appearance together in six months amid their unique marriage arrangement
Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith were seen together on a rare night out – their first public appearance in six months. The two were seen at a family dinner but arrived separately to the swanky restaurant.
Will and Jada were joined at Nobu Malibu by their son Jaden, as well as Will’s mother Caroline and his son Trey, who he shares with ex-wife Sheree Zampino.
While Will wore a lowkey, casual outfit of a white top and grey jogging bottoms, Jada wore a long black coat and Louis Vuitton skirt. She also carried a designer handbag and two necklaces. Though the two didn’t arrive together, they were pictured leaving in the same black Land Rover.
The dinner out comes six months after they were last seen together at Paris Fashion Week in January, which was also four months after their last public outing. They were spotted supporting Jaden as his first collection as the Men’s Creative Director for Christian Louboutin was unveiled.
Their sporadic outings come after Jada revealed she and Will had separated in 2016. Unpacking the announcement in 2023, she told Hoda Kotb on the Today Show: “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”
Jada, who previously shared that she had an affair with August Alsina in 2020, also said that despite their separation, she did not want to go through a divorce. She explained: “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
A source later told People that though they live separately, Jada and Will haven’t “completely severed ties”. Though the two are separated, they still work together professionally and own an entertainment company called Westbrook.
The company signed a first-look deal with Paramount to create films last year. In this partnership, Will, who has seemingly taken a step back from acting since slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars in 2022, is expected to be in front of the camera, while Jada is behind in a producing role.
The infamous Oscars slap occurred after Chris made a joke about Jada, who has alopecia, being bald and looking like “GI Jane”. Will stormed on stage and hit Chris, telling him to “take my wife’s name out of your mouth”.
At that time, Will and Jada’s marriage was already under scrutiny, as Jada had spoken about her “entanglement” with August, who is 21 years younger than her.
