A noticeable increase in vehicles crossing the bridge has lent further credibility to the rumors. In the past, vehicles crossed only occasionally for construction work or facility inspections. Rumors of an imminent opening have surfaced several times before without the bridge ever actually opening. For that reason, some people in the border region say this latest round of speculation should still be treated with caution. This time, however, regular vehicle traffic, nearly finished facilities and increasingly active traders have strengthened the case that an opening is near.
