Will There Be A Jack Ryan: Ghost War Sequel? All The Hints Given By John Krasinski, Andrew Bernstein

The much-anticipated movie, Jack Ryan: Ghost War, has been generating a lot of buzz ever since it was released a few days ago, on May 20, 2026. For those unaware, the political action thriller is available to stream on the OTT giant, Amazon Prime Video. Apart from John Krasinski in the titular role, the movie also features several notable stars, including Wendell Pierce, Michael Kelly, Sienna Miller, and more. Now, as the film continues to draw more attention, one question lingering in viewers’ minds is whether there will be a Jack Ryan: Ghost War sequel. If you are wondering the same, here’s everything we know. 

Will there be a Jack Ryan: Ghost War sequel?

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and marks the first full-length film continuation to the TV series, which also starred John Krasinski in the titular role. For those unaware, Jack Ryan Season 4 was believed to mark the end of the story about the CIA analyst, but the makers decided to give fans what they wanted with the movie, as ‘Jack Ryan’ is pulled back into the world of spy craft. Regarding fans wondering whether there will be another Jack Ryan sequel or movie, as of now, Prime Video has not announced anything. If reports are believed to be true, there are no formal plans for another Jack Ryan instalment. 

Although it is worth noting that people involved with the project have actually left the door open to a possible Jack Ryan sequel. For instance, during an interview with JoBlo Celebrity Access, John Krasinski said, “We’re sort of heading on a path that always follows [Tom] Clancy.” He suggested that, just as we have seen in the books, the hero’s adventures can continue in the movies as well, and that this could also somehow make it possible for ‘Jack Ryan’ to become the President of the USA.

In a separate interview with MovieWeb, John went on to express how enthusiastic he was about exploring ‘Jack Ryan’s’ character further. However, he claimed that it could only happen if fans wanted to see that. In his words:

“100 per cent. I hope so. But again, only dictated by the fans wanting to see that, you know, I mean, and I think that we have been so unbelievably blown away and moved by the outpouring of love for this show and now for the movie, hopefully, because I think I get called Jack at the airport more than I do Jim now, which is a big deal for me.”

John Krasinski went on to add that he himself is a huge fan of the whole ‘Jack Ryan’ world. This also includes the books written by Tom Clancy. Opening up about how he hopes he’d get another chance to play ‘Jack Ryan,’ John stated: 

“But no, I mean, listen, I’m such a huge fan of the world, and not only the movies, but the books and what Tom Clancy did. And so, if you’re a fan of the books, then you see that there are little hints and Easter eggs in each season. There’s Clear and Present Danger stuff, there’s Patriot Game stuff. And I love following the canon. So clearly, at the end of this, he’s Deputy Director. I mean, I love following the breadcrumbs that Tom Clancy left. So, hopefully, I get another chance to do it.”

Apart from John Krasinski, the director of Jack Ryan: Ghost War, Andrew Bernstein, also made remarks on the future of the series. According to him, there could very well be a follow-up, but it will depend on whether Ghost War works as a stand-alone project. And he claimed that a sequel should be made only if there is a story worth telling.
