A woman has been charged with torture after a 10-year-girl was brought to the Queensland Children’s Hospital allegedly suffering from critical malnutrition, and with significant injuries.
Police said the girl was admitted to the hospital on February 9 suffering dehydration, critical malnutrition and significant, untreated injuries.
Police declared a crime scene at the child’s home in Logan Reserve, south of Brisbane.
On Tuesday, police confirmed they had charged a 40-year-old woman with three counts of failing to supply necessaries and one count of torture.
She was scheduled to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police said the child remained in the intensive care unit in a stable condition.
