Srinagar: A woman from Gujarat participated in the Kashmir Marathon 2026 in Srinagar with her one-year-old son strapped to her chest in a baby carrier, completing the 21-km half-marathon.

Kulsum Bhanu, who currently resides in the Bemina area of Srinagar, ran the half-marathon with her son, Mohammad, in the baby carrier. Her husband, Imtiyaz, is a CRPF personnel currently posted in Assam.

The couple has three children — a 12-year-old son, a two-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. While her two older children stayed at home, Kulsum took her youngest son along for the race.

She dedicated her run to all the children participating in the marathon, making her participation a special moment at the event.

Thousands of runners from across India and abroad participated in the third edition of the Kashmir Marathon.

Featuring full and half-marathon races, this year’s edition offers a prize pool of Rs.3.17 crore, including a dedicated award category for local runners.

The scenic route passed through iconic landmarks, including Lal Chowk, Dal Lake, Boulevard Road, Foreshore Road and Nishat Garden, showcasing Srinagar’s natural beauty and rich cultural heritage.
