A woman was told she had won a competition to stay in a luxury hotel and get a shopping spree by her best friend – what what happened almost ‘gave her a heart attack’
A woman thought she was being treated to a luxury hotel stay and a shopping spree in Boots, but didn’t realise something was amiss until a celebrity walked through the door. After seeing Kelly Rowland became the face of OLAY‘s new Super collection, Marlene got in touch with the company to let them know about her super-fan best friend, Sacha.
Marlene declared that her best friend of 30 years was “obsessed” with the pop superstar and went as far as calling herself the “Kelly Rowland of their friendship group”. After sending a brief video explaining that she would love to surprise her best friend, it wasn’t long before their friendship was put to the test through a number of white lies.
Completely unaware of the real plan, Sacha, a 47-year-old Pensions Team Leader from London, believed Marlene had won an OLAY-sponsored shopping spree at Boots, complete with an overnight stay in a 5-star London hotel.
Brought in under the guise of a winner’s interview, Sacha was stunned when Kelly Rowland herself walked into the room.
Sacha was immediately overcome with emotion as she asked if she would be able to hug Kelly. She then joked: “You know I’m old, I could have had a heart attack, I’m 47.”
To which Kelly replied: “I’m 45” before they started chatting about beauty products. During their chat, Kelly shared her love for the OLAY Super Serum, prompting Marlene to joke that she hopes the product helps find her a husband.
Marlene said: “When Sacha screamed, I was beside myself. She has been telling everyone how nice Kelly is and can’t believe I kept it a secret.”
