Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority to ensure the speedy completion of works for the Bank Street in Amaravati by speeding up approvals for construction of various bank headquarters there.
Chairing a CRDA meeting on Friday, Naidu reviewed the progress of the financial district. He instructed CRDA officials to extend full cooperation to banks in this respect and ensure seamless coordination among all agencies.
Officials informed the chief minister that 11 of the 13 banks that had agreed to establish offices on Bank Street had entrusted the construction of their buildings to the CPWD.
The CM underscored the importance of creating robust digital infrastructure across Amaravati. Officials must ensure uninterrupted telephone, cable and internet connectivity, he said, and proposed the development of digital infrastructure through the PPP mode.
Highlighting the need to make Amaravati a highly livable and cost-efficient city, Naidu called for measures to reduce household expenses. He advocated the promotion of piped gas connections, wider use of induction stoves and the introduction of district cooling systems to improve energy efficiency and sustainability.
Emphasising urban aesthetics, the CM instructed officials to prioritise beautification works. He also suggested maintaining water levels throughout the year from Prakasam Barrage up to Vaikunthapuram, as the stretch holds significant potential for tourism, water sports, swimming and other recreational activities.
The authority meeting also reviewed the Krishna river embankment works, development of Land Pooling Scheme layouts at Undavalli village, construction of a parking complex, establishment of a Judicial Academy and compensation issues related to poultry farm structures. Minister P Narayana participated virtually, while senior officials from municipal administration and CRDA attended the meeting.
