After leaving the BBC amid a scandal on Strictly Come Dancing, Wynne Evans has found a new role at another radio station, whilst Strictly faces a huge shake-up amid stars’ exits
Amid the exits of several stars from Strictly Come Dancing, former BBC star Wynne Evans has landed a new role at a radio station after a scandal on the dance show led to his departure from BBC Radio Wales.
Wynne was on Strictly in 2024 and first became the subject of a scandal when his hand appeared to be slapped away from his partner Katya Jones‘ waist.
Both later claimed that it was an inside joke, but Wynne was later under fire again after he was reported to have made an inappropriate sexual comment, which led to his sacking from the Strictly Live Tour and from BBC Radio Wales.

Wynne has now started work as a host on Dragon Radio, a Welsh radio station, which pals say he was “made for”. They claim that his loyal audience has followed him there, making his weekend show “hugely successful”. Away from radio, he is also said to have built up a property business.
“Wynne was virtually destroyed by the BBC and hung out to dry,” the source told The Sun. “But he is proof that once the chips are down, you can turn things around.”
While Wynne works to get his radio career back, Strictly is saying goodbye to several of its stars. The first to go were long-time hosts Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, who announced their shock exit from the show in September 2025, with weeks of last year’s season to go.
In March of this year, pro dancer Karen Hauer also announced her exit from the show. She was rumoured to have been axed, alongside several other stars, and confirmed her exit on Instagram, tearfully saying: “After 14 years on Strictly Come Dancing, I’ve decided this is the right time for me to close this chapter and take on new projects in other areas that I’m passionate about.” She has since been announced as part of the cast of a Stepping Out revival.
Later, fellow pro dancer Nadiya Bychkova confirmed her exit, as did Luba Mushtuk and Michelle Tsiakkas. The most recent pro dancer to leave was Gorka Marquez.
He announced his departure in a statement on Instagram: “After last year’s decision to step down as a full-time professional due to scheduling conflicts between Strictly and Dancing with the Stars Spain, I’ve decided that now is the time to hang up my dance shoes and say goodbye to Strictly Come Dancing.
“I will always be incredibly grateful to Strictly and the BBC for everything. Being part of the show has been so much more than just a professional opportunity—over the past 10 years, it allowed me to build a career from my passion, find love, start a family, and make lifelong friends. For that, I will forever be thankful.

“Now it’s time to take a step back, enjoy the sidelines… and hopefully hold up a few paddles and give out some tens along the way. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and shared their love throughout this incredible journey. Keep dancing.”
