Kadapa: An elderly couple died after an electricity pole suddenly collapsed on them in Maidukuru of YSR Kadapa district in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to reports, the couple was sleeping in front of their house when the incident occurred. A lorry transporting paddy husk reportedly came into contact with overhead power lines, causing the electricity pole to snap and fall on the couple.
They sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
Police and officials from the Electricity Department rushed to the scene and launched an investigation. The bodies were shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. Further details are awaited.
