Nellore: The YSRC on Saturday submitted a memorandum to district revenue officer (DRO) N. Vijayakumar, seeking action against Nellore Municipal commissioner Y.O. Nandan, alleging that he acted in favour of the Telugu Desam (TD) during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
A delegation led by YSRC district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy and Nellore city in-charge and MLC Parvatha Reddy Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that the commissioner violated constitutional norms by participating in a meeting of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) attended by minister Ponguru Narayana and later joining a teleconference held exclusively with TD Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
The YSRC leaders alleged that the commissioner advised TD BLAs to use the ITDP app and guided them on expediting the SIR process. They accused him of acting like a “TD agent” instead of maintaining neutrality in his capacity as the electoral registration officer (ERO).
Kakani Govardhan Reddy demanded legal action against the Commissioner, while Chandrasekhar Reddy alleged that the SIR process was being politically misused to retain votes favourable to the TD while deleting others.
He urged the authorities to relieve the Commissioner of all election-related duties, stating that issuing a show-cause notice alone would be inadequate.
The YSRC said it had also lodged a complaint with the chief electoral officer, seeking appropriate action against the official.
