Visakhapatnam: Opposition YSRC has finalised on Thursday its mayoral candidates from Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram.
MLC Varudu Kalyani will contest from Visakhapatnam, while Kolagatla Sravani, daughter of former MLA and minister Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy will bid for the mayoral post from Vizianagaram.
Varudu Kalyani became an MLC in 2021. Her term expires next year. She is the state president of YSRC women’s wing. She has a B. Sc. in Agriculture and did her MBA from Osmania university.
Kalyani contested on Praja Rajyam Party ticket from Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency in 2009 but lost.
During the YSRC rule, Kolagatla Sravani had been elected as a corporator and went on to become the deputy mayor of Vizianagaram. She is tipped to succeed her father during the 2029 elections.
