YSRC Leaders, Activists Stage Stir in Protest Against Hike in Fuel Prices

Vijayawada:The opposition YSRC leaders and supporters staged a state-wide protest on Monday against the recent hike in prices of petrol and diesel and demanded their rollback across Andhra Pradesh.

The party leaders and supporters staged rallies, dharnas and padayatras and submitted memorandums to the district collectors, RDOs and tahsildars demanding an immediate rollback of fuel prices.

In Guntur, former minister Ambati Rambabu led a protest and alleged that AP had the highest fuel prices in the country and slammed minister Nara Lokesh for going back on his pre-election promise to reduce taxes on fuels.

In Vijayawada, former minister Vellampalli Srinivas staged a protest by pulling an auto-rickshaw with ropes near the Vidhayadharapuram tahsilar’s office.

In NTR district, YSRC district president Devineni Avinash led a massive rally in which bikes were placed on bullock carts to symbolise the burden imposed on commoners.

In Nellore, a protest rally led by YSRC district president Kakani Govardhan Reddy and MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy was taken out from the Barkas Centre to the collectorate, drawing huge crowds.

In a symbolic protest, Govardhan Reddy and Chandrasekhar Reddy rode a cycle rickshaw during the rally and submitted a memorandum to the DRO urging the state government to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel.

In the erstwhile twin districts of Godavari, YSRC leaders and activists staged protests and expressed concern over hike in prices of fuels and they raised slogans against the alliance leaders and the chief minister.
