Vijayawada:YSRC leaders, including MLC Thota Trimurthulu and former minister Ambati Rambabu, on Monday demanded that the alleged custodial death case of Gade Sai Krishna be handed over to the CBI or investigated by a sitting judge, contending that only an independent probe could reveal the truth.

A delegation of YSRC leaders from the Kapu community visited Sai Krishna’s mother, Vijayalakshmi, at her brother’s residence in Vaddeswaram village of Guntur district and extended financial assistance of ₹20 lakh to the family.

Speaking to the media, Thota Trimurthulu said the party did not endorse Sai Krishna’s past actions but strongly opposed the manner of his death. He alleged that the investigation was being conducted improperly and claimed that suspended CI Naga Raju could not have acted alone without the knowledge of senior police officers. He further alleged that attempts were being made to make the suspended officer a scapegoat while protecting higher officials, including the police commissioner.

Ambati Rambabu alleged that an FIR was registered only after YSRC president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy visited the victim’s family. He claimed that police delayed Naga Raju’s arrest, failed to seize his mobile phone, and later reported that CCTV footage from the Krishna Lanka police station had gone missing, raising questions over the investigation.
