Vijayawada:Opposition YSRC leaders and cadres staged a state-wide “Two Years of Backstabbing” protest on Thursday against the NDA alliance government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

YSRC took out protest marches displaying copies of the NDA alliance’s election manifesto, including Super Six promises and guarantee bonds with photographs and signatures of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM K. Pawan Kalyan. They later burnt these copies at major centres and mandal headquarters across the state, saying the ruling parties in the coalition government have backstabbed the people of Andhra Pradesh, instead of fulfilling their promises even after two years have lapsed.

The stir by the YSRC leaders is expected to continue till June 12 in various towns and constituencies of the state.

YSRC party general secretary told media that Chandrababu Naidu has abandoned governance and is pursuing a single point agenda of spreading falsehood against former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He said several welfare and developmental programmes initiated by the previous YSR Congress regime have been scrapped by the coalition government.

The YSRC leader charged that the Deputy Chief Minister has lost his political relevance while the BJP is remaining silent on several key issues concerning the people.

Protests have also been held in the erstwhile twin districts of Godavari. Party cadres led by former Anaparthy MLA Sathi Surayanayana Reddy staged a dharna in front of the Biccavolu mandal office, pointing out that welfare schemes like fee reimbursement have been discontinued.
