YTPS Unit-3 Begins Commercial Operations, Generates 811.99 MW Power

Hyderabad: The unit-3 of Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) has successfully completed commercial operation declaration on May 13, 2026 by operating it continuously for 72 hours generating average power of 811.99 MW against the rated capacity of 800 MW.

The 72 hours operation was witnessed by TGNPDCL, TGSPDCL and TGTRANSCO officials and the commercial operation of unit-3 of 5×800 MW YTPS was declared at 8 pm on Wednesday in the presence of Dr. S. Harish, Chairman and Managing Director of TGGENCO.

This milestone is achieved because of continuous pursuance, encouragement and follow-up of Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikarmarka. Harish congratulated the combined efforts put by the teams of BHEL and TGGENCO in achieving the milestone of commercial operation declaration (COD) of unit-3 of 5×800 MW YTPS.

Telangana Power Generation Corporation Limited (TGGENCO) is establishing Yadadri Thermal Power Station (YTPS) with 5 units each of 800 MW with a total installed capacity of 4000 MW at Veerlapalem Village, Damaracherla Mandal, Nalgonda District.

The project consists of two units of 800 MW each in stage-I and three units of 800 MW each in Stage-II. The unit-1, unit-2 and unit-4 were already commissioned and already put into commercial operation. The unit-3 successfully completed commercial operation declaration on May 13 by operating it for 72 hours generating average power of 811.99 MW against the rated capacity of 800 MW.
