The Eagles were finally collecting sacks on Sunday against the Giants, several of which were recorded by Zack Baun before he was sidelined after a big hit. Shortly after halftime, Baun crushed QB J.J. McCarthy, but ended up in the medical tent as a result — and McCarthy briefly left the game with a hip injury. The Eagles LB left the medical tent and went inside for x-rays and was listed as questionable to return with a back injury.
Before being sidelined, Baun led the defense with seven total tackles, including three for loss, and two big sacks. He was dominant when the Eagles needed him most, and it was unfortunate to lose him. Linebacker Smael Mondon stepped in for Baun in the meantime.
This team is headed into their bye week, so Baun will have a little longer to get healthy, but there’s little hope for a turn around this season, so hopefully they don’t rush him back.
