EXCLUSIVE: Zara McDermott has admitted that she has been struggling to ‘work out’ what to do at Christmas this year amid her close bond with Louis Tomlinson’s sisters Daisy and Lottie
Zara McDermott has revealed that she has a struggle on her hands when it comes to Christmas this year. Amid her relationship with former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, which is now going on a year and a half, Zara shared that she was still trying to “work out” how to split her time at the holidays.
Speaking to the Mirror at the Pride of Britain awards, Zara said: “Honestly, I’ve been trying to work out how I’m going to split my Christmas this year. I want to be with everyone and make it work, but it’s also my 30th this year, which is before Christmas. I’m thinking about my 30th before I think about Christmas, because it’s a big one.”

Saying she was trying to take it one step at a time, Zara added that she wasn’t sure what to do for her birthday either. “I don’t know what to do yet!” she said, a little flustered but grinning nonetheless. “It’s 14th December, I don’t know what to do. Do I do something big? Am I going to regret doing something big? I just kind of want a cute family thing, but I’m not sure.”
Two people who would be on the guestlist regardless of the party size are Lottie and Daisy Tomlinson, Louis’ sisters. Zara turned up at the Pride of Britain awards with both Daisy and Lottie. While Zara and Lottie both wore a gorgeous black gown, Daisy opted for a lace, white dress. Daisy stuck close to Zara throughout the night, with the two regularly sharing smiles and reaching for each other’s hands.
“It’s so lovely to be out together,” Zara said when asked about their bond. “I love everybody and I’m so grateful to have sisters around me and such an amazing set of sisters.”
When asked about being at the awards, the former Love Island star turned documentary maker said: “It’s such a special night, it’s the best event of the year.”
She added that the amazing award winners always inspired her to “do a bit more”. Zara was asked about what she did to help others, she said: “With the documentary work I do, that’s the act of kindness that I do to give back to the world, into the community, sharing stories and listening to others.”
Zara has made several documentaries, including ones on disordered eating, online grooming and stalkers. Her first documentary was on revenge porn, something Zara herself was the victim of when she left Love Island.
When asked what she hoped to discuss in her next documentaries, Zara said: “Anything in the Violence Against Women and Girls space, that’s what really fires me up. There’s so much change that needs to happen and I feel so passionate about wanting to drive that change. It’s a conversation that needs to be had.”
