Zayn Malik has reportedly been dropped by his manager amid a series of blows to his career after claims surfaced alleging he ‘punched’ his former One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson

Zayn Malik has reportedly suffered another blow to his career. The former One Direction star is said to have been dropped by his manager amid a series of setbacks and claims he punched Louis Tomlinson.

Zayn and Louis were both members of One Direction, but Zayn was the only one to leave, taking a step back in 2015. He has since released a few singles, as did Louis after the remaining members of One Direction chose to go on hiatus.

Despite no longer being in the same band, the boys were set to appear in a Netflix road trip show together, but this was reportedly scrapped after Zayn was said to have punched Louis in the face. Zayn and Louis’ alleged altercation was reported to have left Louis with a concussion and in need of medical treatment.

The Sun have now reported that Zayn’s manager has dropped him amid the controversy. A source told the outlet: “Things reached a point where his management felt they couldn’t do anything else, and they recently resigned. Now he is looking for the third manager of his solo career. It’s not a good look.”

The reports about Zayn’s alleged fight with Louis also included claims that he was “acting up and mouthing off”, and even went so far as to make a comment about Louis’ mother, Johannah Deakin, who died of leukaemia in 2016. Following the claims, two of Louis’ sisters, Phoebe and Lottie, unfollowed Zayn on Instagram.

A source said that Louis was “stunned and in shock” by the comment. They also said that his head was “cut” when Zayn allegedly punched him, as the star was reportedly wearing rings at the time.

Netflix is thought to have axed the multi-million pound show, which would have seen Zayn and Louis travel around the US, recapping their career with One Direction and the death of Liam Payne. It has been reported that Zayn and Louis have not spoken since meeting to film.

This also comes shortly after Zayn cancelled his US tour and two of his UK arena shows. The circumstances that caused him to cancel have not been fully clarified, but Zayn promised fans he would be having “another look” at his schedule after he had recovered from a mystery illness. Zayn was rushed to hospital just before he needed to fly to the UK for an intimate show, which had to be postponed.

It also comes after his ex Perrie Edwards opened up about the “hellish” ordeal she went through following the end of their relationship and seeing him move on with supermodel Gigi Hadid.

The former Little Mix singer started dating Zayn in 2011, and they announced their engagement two years later. But they called it off in 2015. He started seeing Gigi, with whom he now shares a five-year-old child called Khai, soon after.

In a candid new interview on the Good Company podcast, the 32-year-old detailed suffering “serious breakdowns” after their engagement ended so publicly.

“When you go through heartbreak, it is hellish,” she told host Jamie Laing. “It’s the worst thing in the world. You can’t eat, you can’t sleep, you feel horrendous. You feel abandoned and you don’t feel good enough. You feel like you’ve been left for something better.

“And then what makes it even worse is, I felt like the world was then looking at me, laughing at me … Not my fans, my fans were like, ‘We love you, we’ll fight your corner no matter what.’ But I felt embarrassed. I felt horrified. It was awful.”

She also claimed that there was “a bit of an overlap” between his relationship with her and his relationship with Gigi. She added: “I think, when you’re moving on with somebody else, you always get on better. When you’re the one left behind, that’s when it’s hard, because it’s like, ‘Oh s**t, they’ve left me for someone more beautiful than me, someone better than me’. Whatever it is, that’s how it felt at the time.”

Mirror contacted Zayn’s reps about his manager, and they declined to comment. His reps were also contacted about Perrie’s comments at the time they were released.
