Amid his hospitalisation, Zayn Malik’s family have said they ‘appreciate the love’ from fans and made a request of those sending well-wishes, as the One Direction star continues to battle his mystery illness
Zayn Malik and his family have shared an update with fans, asking them for a “meaningful gesture”, after the star was hospitalised for a mystery illness.
Earlier this month, fans of the former One Direction star were left devastated when he pulled out of a series of events to promote his new album. They were even more concerned when Zayn shared a picture of himself in a hospital, revealing his mystery health battle.
In the first update since then, his cousin Sasha Malik shared how much the family “appreciate the love” fans are trying to show and shared a statement, approved by Zayn and his family, asking for a “meaningful gesture” in place of flowers.

Sasha wrote in an Instagram story: “We’re so grateful for everyone who has reached out to send bouquets! Logistically, it just simply can’t work, but we appreciate you all so much, please donate anything you’d like on Zayn’s behalf to The Palestine Project!”
She added a statement from North West based florist The Hidden Bouquet, which had approval from the Malik family. It read: “Due to the high volume of requests for Zayn Mailk and his family, we are unfortunately no longer able to take any further orders at this time.
“We truly appreciate the love and support show. If you would still like to make a meaningful gesture, the Malik family would greatly appreciate donations being made to the Palestine Project via the link below. You are welcome to donate the amount you would have spent on a bouquet and leave a message of support there. The fundraiser will be checked by the family and your kind words and contributions will go a long way.
A link to The Palestine Project’s Just Giving page was also added. The page was set up to raise money to help Islamic Relief, an international relief and development charity, provide food, clean water, shelter and emergency medical aid to those living in Palestine amid the conflict with Israel.
The original aim of the project was to raise £27,000, and thanks to over 800 supporters, it has reached that goal. Several of those donating left messages for Zayn and his family. One said: “Prayers for everyone, in honour of Zayn”. Another added: “I was made aware of this fundraiser through Zayn Malik and his family. It’s a cause I care so deeply about and I am grateful for the opportunity to help in this way. I’m wishing Zayn a speedy recovery.”
A third said: “My donation is gave with heartfelt support for this cause!! Also I am giving in honor of ZAYN and his family much love and support, prayers always!! Hope Zayn is feeling much better!!”
Fans are hoping Zayn will be well enough to embark on his upcoming world tour, which is set to be his biggest solo tour yet. He is due to begin touring in May 2026 in Manchester and continue with dates across the UK, in Los Angeles, Mexico City, Sao Paulo and more. The final show is set to be in November in Miami.
Not much is known about the illness Zayn is suffering from, but a source told PEOPLE that his treatment involved working with the “no. one cardiologist in the world”.
