Zohran Mamdani Makes An Impressive Debut on Andrew Schulz’s Podcast

There’s a split consensus on whether or not it’s worth it to reach out to voters by going on shows like Joe Rogan’s Joe Rogan Experience or Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh’s Flagrant. But if you don’t go on those shows, you won’t reach millions of people who are, in most cases, politically unmoored. As we’ve seen from Schulz himself, there’s no set ideology for a lot of people consuming manosphere content — they’re willing to listen to anyone who has enough foresight to make them feel included.

For a while, this has been Republicans and Pete Buttigieg. Now, it includes New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani. The young Democratic Socialist frontrunner of the race has been mentioned on Flagrant before. When Schulz admitted that he felt duped by Donald Trump back in July following the Epstein files debacle, he referenced Mamdani as someone who seems to be clued in to what the average voter really cares about.

Now, less than two weeks before New Yorkers will cast a ballot for either Mamdani, credibly accused sexual harasser Andrew Cuomo or the punchline in human form Curtis Silwa, Mamdani is joining the ranks of people who have entered the manosphere with the aim of picking up votes — and it went really, really well.

Mamdani came off as a passionate, educated, solution-oriented politician who had a sensible approach to make lives better for working-class people. It also proved he could hang with the bros.

In a clip that’s gone viral on X, Mamdani declares about Cuomo and his wealthy benefactors: “He’s spending more money against me than I would tax him! I don’t even want that much!”

This got a round of laughter from the Flagrant guys.

Then, in what I’ve rarely seen when watching Schulz and Singh for the last several months, the conversation seems even. Mamdani is clearly a smart guy, and it could be easy for the politician to talk at this group of men who are more comfortable cracking jokes then digging deep into city policies. But Mamdani gets to the Flagrant level and brings it up.

No, it’s no interview with Malcolm Gladwell — there’s an entire sideline about cucks and government efficiency that has the young candidate blushing. It’s definitely compelling and inclusive to the people who are watching, though, and it shows not only what’s possible for New York, but maybe even for a show like Flagrant. The podcast is evolving and clearly wants to be taken as something more than the show that interviewed Trump.

Plus, the guys practiced a little bit of essential journalism when they confronted Mamdani about his absolutely dismal attempt to bench press. In the other clip that went viral from the show, Mamdani had to explain what he was thinking when he agreed to do a bench-press challenge.

“Every year I’m going to do one pound more,” Mamdani promised.

“You fucked up, dude,” Singh joked.

Amid more raucous laughter, Mamdani said, “You think I thought I was going to kill it? I knew there was a problem. And this guy was like, ‘You got to do it.’ I was like, ‘I really don’t.’”

Again, it was just the perfect balance of absolutely everything — for both Mamdani and Schulz and Singh.
