VIJAYAWADA: Elections to Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) in Kakumanu, Pedanandipadu and Phirangipuram mandals will be held as scheduled on Thursday, November 5, Guntur district collector and district election officer C.M. Saikanth Varma said on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference at the collectorate in Guntur, he clarified that although the administration had earlier announced a one-day postponement of polling in the three mandals due to transport difficulties caused by Cyclone Murasu, elections would now be held on November 5.

He appealed to voters, political party representatives and the public to take note of the clarification and cooperate with election authorities. He also urged voters to exercise their franchise.

The collector said elections would be held in 13 mandals across the district for 13 ZPTC and 200 MPTC seats. Seven MPTC candidates had been elected unanimously, leaving 193 seats to go to the polls.

He said the district administration had made arrangements to ensure that the elections were conducted peacefully and transparently.

District revenue officer N.S.K. Khajavali also attended the press conference.
