واستمر الحال على ما هو عليه حتى بعد ظهور الإسلام، وذلك لقوله تعالى في سورة التوبة: (فَإِذَا انسَلَخَ الأَشْهُرُ الْحُرُمُ فَاقْتُلُواْ الْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَاحْصُرُوهُمْ وَاقْعُدُواْ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ الصَّلاَةَ وَآتَوُاْ الزَّكَاةَ فَخَلُّواْ سَبِيلَهُمْ إِنَّ اللّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ).

الأشهر الحل
أما الأشهر الحل فهي بقية الأشهر الهجرية الاثني عشر، وعددها 8، وهي: صفر، وربيع الأول، وربيع الآخر، وجمادى الأولى، وجمادى الآخرة، وشعبان ورمضان وشوال.
وسميت بالأشهر الحل لأن القتال فيها كان حلالاً عند العرب في جاهليتهم وإسلامهم.
