ويعد هذا الزلزال الثاني خلا 24 ساعة، إذ وقع زلزال بلغت قوته 7,2 درجة قبالة فانواتو ما أدى إلى إطلاق تحذير من حدوث تسونامي السبت، وفق ما ذكر مركز التحذير من التسونامي في المحيط الهادئ.
وحذّر مركز الرصد الذي يتخذ في هاواي مقرا عقب وقوع الزلزال في المياه المحيطة بفانواتو: “استنادا إلى المؤشرات الأولية للزلزال.. ثمة احتمال لحدوث موجات تسونامي خطيرة على السواحل الواقعة ضمن نطاق 300 كيلومتر من مركز الزلزال”.
