Rapper 21 Savage’s family is dealing with a big crisis as they lost their 14-year-old member. For the unversed, 21 Savage’s 14-year-old nephew, Seven Shirley, died by suicide. The family is mourning his loss as they cannot come to terms with the fact that the young boy took his own life after accidentally shooting his sister at their Stockbridge home.

The 21 Savage’s family is dealing with the unimaginable loss of the 14-year-old. As per the family, Seven accidentally shot his 12-year-old sister, Lyric, in the neck on July 22, 2026. It was an accident, as per the news station 11Alive. While the family was busy giving the necessary care to the 12-year-old, Seven made the decision to end his life.
His grandmother, Sharon Smith, talked about the pain and shared that he probably thought that people would ridicule him and he might go to jail, and since he couldn’t take it all, he decided to end his life. Through tears, Seven’s grandmother said:
“Just that fast that boy had made the decision to kill himself. He probably sat up there and thought, ‘I’m finna go to jail, they’re going to ridicule me, everybody is going to be doing this and that and this … and he couldn’t take it.'”
The grandmother had raised the boy since he was eleven months old and called him as a loving grandson, who loved her a lot. She stated that there was nothing he woulnd’t do for her. Talking about the shooting incident, the family has no idea how he was got the gun. She added that something needs to be done about the person who sold the gun as if he wouldn’t have bought it, the mishap won’t have happened. He said:
“We don’t know. We don’t know. Something needs to be done about that person who sold that gun because if he would have never bought that gun, this would have never happened.”
Meanwhile, his younger sister remains hospitalized. She underwent three surgeries on her neck and vocal cords. 21 Savage also took to his Instagram stories and shared a photo of him where he was wearing a 21 chain, with the caption “Remember when you was a baby”, followed by series of heart emojis.
The family also shared a statement talking about the homecoming celebration of the 14-year-old and even requested privacy for the little one. And asked for prayers for his niece as she is fighting for her life. They are believing God will heal her and given her strength to recover. He said:
“As we prepare for the homegoing celebration for my beloved nephew, Seven, I respectfully ask everyone to please honour our family’s privacy during this incredibly difficult time. Please continue to keep my niece, Lyric, in your prayers. She is fighting for her life, and we are believing God for her healing, strength, and complete recovery.”
As soon as the news surfaced, people who had known the child shared their disbelief. One of his elimentary teacher wrote, “I am saddened to learn of this. Seven was a former student during his elementary school years at Panola Way Elementary. Keeping his family in my prayers during this incredibly difficult time, and praying for God’s healing hand, strength, and comfort to be with his sister Lyric as she recovers.”
A second user wrote, “So sad i remember a story like this years ago where the kids were in the bathroom on live and she accidentally shot her brother so she shot her self almost instantly too… praying for everyone involved.” A third user penned, “I am so sad! This was one of my former students. I am praying for his family. Just heart breaking.”
