49ers’ Christian McCaffrey tired of same Brock Purdy question every season

Brock Purdy’s talent doesn’t surprise Christian McCaffrey.

The 49ers star running back is tired of answering whether Purdy has taken his game to another level.

“I feel like I answer that question all the time,” McCaffrey said. “And it’s like at some point … He’s an incredible, great quarterback. He’s unbelievable. So can he take it to another level? I mean, yeah. But he’s already in the category of somebody that is special.”

He added, “Again, I’ve been answering that question for years now. ‘Are you shocked how good he is?’ And then next week, ‘are you shocked how good he is?’ And next year, ‘are you shocked how good he is?’ Now, I’m not shocked. He’s special.”

Purdy finished Sunday’s game with three total touchdowns and only two incompletions. He was 20-for-22 with 287 total yards against the Miami Dolphins in Week 2. He is currently the highest graded player in the entire NFL heading into Monday Night Football with a 96.6 overall.

While he has largely been underestimated by the media, Purdy has proven he can be a franchise quarterback despite being the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

“He’s special. I think that’d be the word I’d use for it. When him and Kyle get on a role like that, it’s so fun to watch,” McCaffrey said. “It’s unbelievable to watch: how decisive he is, how good he is at throwing on time and then also creating when he has to. When he’s at the helm we feel good.”
