What started with people cleaning waste with their own hands has grown into a community movement. đ±
Since 1 September 2018, Vinay Das and his team have worked every Sunday to clean public spaces and inspire people to take responsibility for their surroundings.
From Ashok Vihar to the Yamuna banks and the Munak Canal, volunteers have cleaned parks, lanes and polluted stretchesâwhile also planting trees and caring for new saplings.
The movement has brought together more than 1,600 children and young people, with around 350 active volunteers.
Their recent work at the Munak Canal has made an even bigger impact. Across the last two cleanup drives, 50 metric tonnes of waste were removed, a figure also recorded in MCDâs official records.
But for Vinay, the biggest reward isnât the number of tonnes removed.
Itâs hearing a child say:
âBhaiya, my lane is clean today. Maa is happy.â â€ïž
And the mission goes beyond cleaning.
Vinay dreams of building a school for 1,500 children, where environmental protection becomes a part of how the next generation learns and lives.
Because real change can begin with something as simple as showing up every Sunday.
