The incessant trolling of the Ram Charan-Janhvi Kapoor track in Peddi is showing real results. The makers have announced the trimming of scenes that have been deemed “disrespectful” towards women.
In a categorical statement today, director Buchi Babu Sana stated that he has “immense respect for women, both on and off screen”. He added that it was never his intention to objectify or disrespect any female character. “If any part of the film has been perceived that way, we respect those sentiments, understand the concerns being raised, and sincerely apologize. After reviewing the feedback, we have decided to make changes to the concerned portions. Cinema grows through its connection with audiences, and as storytellers, we have a responsibility to be mindful of evolving perspectives and sensitivities,” he wrote.
The director, who has previously made Uppena, added that every woman deserves to be respected, valued, and represented with dignity.
Janhvi Kapoor hasn’t spoken anything about the feedback so far. In her next interview, the Param Sundari and Devara actress will most likely address the controversy.
What exact scenes are going to be removed from Peddi is left to be seen.
