Kate Cassidy, girlfriend of late singer Liam Payne, filmed herself on an awkward double date with a friend

Kate Cassidy has shared a glimpse into her dating life following the death of late boyfriend Liam Payne. The pair dated for around two years before the former One Direction singer tragically died in 2024, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires at the age of 31.

She previously spoke about moving on from their relationship and shared that she felt “ready to start dating again”. In a new update on TikTok, the 27-year-old appeared to film a double date with a pal, which wasn’t quite going to plan.

In the clip, posted over the weekend, she was seen beside a friend as they spoke to two potential suitors, with the message, “POV you and your friend are carrying the double date,” over the footage.

They could be seen quizzing their dates on their passion for sports, becoming increasingly confused after listing: “Lacrosse? Football? Cricket? Soccer?”

Things became awkward before Kate quipped: “Do you know how to score any points?” She captioned the post: “Double date saga.”

Reminiscing over her relationship with Liam, she later shared a throwback snap of the pair, set to Mac Miller track Cinderella, featuring Ty Dolla $ign – including the lyrics: “Never gonna find nobody better all my life”.

“Love u 4ever [sic],” she wrote alongside the poignant upload.

Addressing fans in April, she opened up about the possibility of moving on, but insisted that she would “always love Liam”.

“I am ready to start dating again. It has been a year and a half since Liam passed away. I think that love after loss is a big chapter within your grief journey and I don’t know how that is going to feel,” she said on Instagram.

“But I do know that I loved being in love. I want to have kids one day, I want to have a family and I know Liam would want that for me and if the roles were reversed I would want him to be happy and fall in love again.

“I will always love Liam and that will never change no matter who I meet and who comes into my life. I am going to think about Liam on my wedding day, I am going to think about him everyday for the rest of my life and that goes without saying.”

Kate was first linked to the Strip That Down singer in October 2022, before they made their red carpet debut just two months later.

Despite being in a relationship at the time of his death, it was revealed that his entire fortune – reportedly worth around £21million – will go to his son, Bear, who he shares with ex-girlfriend, Cheryl.

The mum-of-one was initially named as the administrator of his estate last year, along with lawyer Richard Bray. According to a new ruling, some of the funds can be spent on the nine-year-old now, with the remainder placed in a trust until his 18th birthday.
