Ranveer Singh has delivered a variety of memorable performances throughout his career, earning acclaim for projects like the recent Dhurandhar franchise. However, for Prithviraj Sukumaran, one particular role remains at the top of his list.
In a recent conversation with Galatta Plus, Prithviraj talked about the performances that have left a lasting impression on him. While he acknowledged the praise Ranveer received for his work in Dhurandhar, he mentioned that his personal favourite is his performance as Rocky Randhawa in the 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Prithviraj shared, “For me, one of his finest performances is Rocky in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. He was so good. I know people talk about Dhurandhar, he was amazing in Dhurandhar, but I have said this to Karan Johar also that Ranveer Singh was amazing in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani. That’s not an easy character to pull off at all.”
Directed by Karan Johar, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is based on the relationship between Rocky Randhawa, a boisterous and carefree man from a wealthy, traditional family, and Rani Chatterjee, an ambitious journalist from a progressive Bengali household. The story follows the two as they attempt to reconcile their families while going through their own differences, eventually swapping homes to better understand each other’s worlds. The film explores themes of masculinity, family expectations, and personal growth as the couple faces resistance from Rocky’s stern grandmother, Dhanlakshmi (played by Jaya Bachchan).
On the work front, Prithviraj has a packed schedule ahead. He is set to appear in the Nissam Basheer-directed thriller I, Nobody, followed by the action drama Khalifa. He is also working on a horror project directed by Rahul Sadasivan. He is also part of the upcoming pan-Indian epic Varanasi, directed by SS Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, which will release in April 2027.
