Emmerdale star Caroline Harker is not the only famous person in her family, as she comes from a line of actors

Emmerdale actress Caroline Harker has a famous sister who period drama fans are sure to recognise.

The 60-year-old soap star is currently portraying villain Dr. Caitlin Todd on the ITV soap, but the villain is set to meet a bitter end in the near future, which was revealed in a flashforward earlier this year.

Regular viewers will recall that the doctor first appeared in January 2025, when local resident and trainee doctor Jacob Gallagher (Joe Warren-Plant) began his inaugural shift in A&E at Hotten General Hospital.

Yet Jacob’s first day proved far from straightforward, as he breached patient confidentiality after mistakenly believing a young stabbing victim brought into the department was April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), who had gone missing at the time.

Until earlier this year, the surgeon continued to bully Jacob before arriving in the village and starting a relationship with Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) while blackmailing Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) over the true parentage of baby Leyla.

In a harrowing scene, Dr. Todd then sexually assaulted Charity, but the police failed to take further action, and she moved to Sheffield. However, in a sinister twist, Dr. Todd returned to the Dales on Thursday (July 6).

A short flashforward clip on the ITV soap recently revealed Dr. Todd lying unconscious with a pool of blood around her head, implying she has been killed, but the culprit still remains a mystery.

Who is Caroline Harker’s famous sister?

Caroline was born in 1966 in London to actress Polly Adams and actor Richard Owens, and followed in her parents’ footsteps into the acting world and attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in North London.

She made early TV appearances in Growing Rich, Middlemarch, and The Madness of King George, alongside her now-husband Anthony Calf.

Caroline has appeared in Harry Enfield and Chums, Holding On, A Touch of Frost as DS Hazel Wallace, The Man Who Lost His Head with Martin Clunes and Coronation Street.

Caroline recently appeared in the Apple TV+ series Slow Horses and the comedy Toast of Tinseltown, and made a brief appearance in the ITV crime drama Joan.

Her famous sister Susannah Harker is also an English actress and director who has appeared in film, television, and theatre. Her biggest role was Mattie Storin in the BBC drama House of Cards, for which she was nominated for a BAFTA.

The 61-year-old also appeared in the celebrated 1995 adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.

It transformed Jane Austen’s 1813 story of romance, social hierarchy, and prejudice in Regency England for television audiences, achieving enormous success.

Viewers were captivated by the palpable chemistry between Elizabeth Bennet star Jennifer Ehle and Dr Darcy star Colin Firth.

The description on BBC iPlayer states: “There’s great excitement for the Bennets when a young aristocrat makes an appearance. The spectacular adaptation that sparked Austen-mania. Starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle.”

The BBC period drama, regarded as the benchmark for literary adaptations, is available to stream free of charge in the UK, on iPlayer.

Susannah has since starred in a long list of popular shows, including Grantchester, Perfect Parents, New Tricks, and Heart of the Sun.
