Human bones found in the garden of a bungalow in south-east London are being examined by the Met Police.

Officers were called to Aperfield Road in Biggin Hill at about 15:30 BST last Friday, the force said.

The bones were sent for specialist examination which confirmed they were human. They are now undergoing further tests to establish their age and identity, police added.

The area around the home was cordoned off for six days, according to The Sun, external, with one resident telling the newspaper the property was being renovated.

“The builders discovered something on Friday and of course they completely had to stop work,” they added.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson added: “The crime scene is now closed and an investigation remains ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
