WARANGAL: The temple of Sri Bhadrakali, the presiding deity of historic Warangal, had a festive spiritual look as devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the celestial wedding of Sri Bhadrakali and Bhadreshwara on Wednesday night on occasion of the Vijayadashami.

Vedic chants and playing of traditional musical instruments marked the kalyananam. Bhadreshwara performed the mangalyadharana to the Goddess. Pearl-studded talambralu added splendour to the ceremonial wedding.

A large number of devotees arrived at the temple to witness the sacred event. After the wedding ceremony, devotees received the annaprasadam.

With this, the Devi Sharannavaratri celebrations at the historic Sri Bhadrakali Temple in Warangal have concluded.

The Vijayadashami celebrations at the temple started with regular morning rituals, Kalasoddvasana and Samrajya Pattabhishekam to the Goddess, followed by Chakratheerthotsavam, Chakrasnanam, and Dhwajavarohanam.

Temple authorities said nearly 60,000 devotees had darshan of the Goddess on the festival day.

Devotees also performed special prayers to the Shami tree, exchanged Jammi leaves, and greeted one another on the occasion of Vijayadashami.

Those who visited the temple and offered prayers to the Goddess on Vijayadashami included Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy, KUDA chairperson Gundu Sudharani, police commissioner Shweta Reddy, Legislative Council deputy chairman Dr. Banda Prakash, and Endowments department Sthapathi Vallinayagam.
