Bhumi Pednekkar is set to explore the horror genre with her next project, as she has been cast in the lead role in the upcoming horror franchise Jaani Dushman. Scheduled for a theatrical release in 2027, the film will be directed by Arshad Syed and jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series Films and Prabhleen Sandhu’s Almighty Motion Picture.
Set in the United Kingdom, Jaani Dushman is described as a supernatural thriller centred on the relationship between a mother and daughter. The narrative will explore family secrets and supernatural occurrences, while incorporating elements of horror, suspense and action.
The makers have also roped in international action and stunt expert Peter Pedrero for the project. Known for his work on major productions such as Harry Potter, Fast & Furious, The Expendables, Game of Thrones and The Conjuring, Pedrero will serve as the International Horror Action/Stunt Director. His involvement is expected to bring elaborate action choreography and supernatural sequences to the film. Meanwhile, Robbie Grewal has come on board as the Creative Producer.
Speaking about the collaboration, producer Bhushan Kumar said, “Almighty Motion Picture has been a valued creative partner, and it’s always a pleasure working with Prabhleen and her team. After Made in India – A Titan Story, we are happy to be collaborating with them again on Jaani Dushman.”
Apart from Jaani Dushman, Bhumi has several projects lined up. She will next be seen in the historical drama The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, starring Rishab Shetty in the titular role. The actress will portray Belawadi Mallamma, a warrior queen remembered for her courage and resistance. The film also features Arjun Rampal and Vivek Oberoi in pivotal roles.
