Aamir Khan has broken his silence on the criticism surrounding his third marriage. Earlier this month, the actor tied the knot with his longtime partner, Gauri Spratt, in an intimate civil ceremony.
Following the wedding, some social media users criticised the actor over his third marriage and for marrying outside his religion.
Addressing the backlash in an interview with Rediff, Aamir said, “The truth is that ours is a very inclusive family. Both my sisters are married to Hindus; my daughter is also married to a Hindu. My cousin Mansoor is married to a Christian. Neither Gauri, Kiran nor Reena converted their religion, as we had civil marriages. Gauri is not even Hindu, she is Christian, and not even a practising Christian at that. Life is getting more comical as time passes.”

Aamir was first married to Reena Dutta in 1986. The former couple, who share two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan, divorced in 2002 after 16 years of marriage. In 2005, the actor married filmmaker Kiran Rao. They welcomed their son, Azad Rao Khan, via surrogacy in 2011 before announcing their separation in 2021. Despite their divorce, Aamir and Kiran have continued to co-parent Azad and have often spoken about maintaining a close friendship.
