For his live stage performance in Jaane Pehchaane Anjane, the governor of Ohio, Mike De Wine and lieutenant governor of Ohio, Jim Tressel officially awarded the honour to Anupam Kher.
As per the letter, they said, “On behalf of the State of Ohio, we are honoured and privileged to welcome Anupam Kher to Columbus, Ohio, for the live stage performance of “Jaane Pehchaane Anjane” alone side acclaimed actress Swaroop Sampat. For more than four decades Anupam Kher has captivated audiences through exceptional performances in hundreds of films, earning numerous honours including the Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan, and national film awards. The State of Ohio is proud to welcome such an extraordinary international artist, and we wish you every success for this special performance.”
In response to this prestigious honour, Anupam Kher took to Instagram to share some good words. He said, “DEEPLY HONOURED AND HUMBLED! It is an extraordinary feeling to receive this special proclamation from the State of Ohio, recognising my journey of more than four decades in cinema and our live stage performance of “Jaane Pehchaane Anjaane” in Columbus.”
He personally gave his thanks to the two governors as well as expressed his gratitude. He continued, “My heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Governor of Ohio, Mr. Mike DeWine, and Lieutenant Governor Mr. Jim Tressel, for this wonderful honour. I accept it with immense pride and humility!
