Ramayana has finally hit the big screens across the globe. A grand spectacle on such a large scale is in need of accessibility across different languages. For this, an English version has been released to help the Western audience connect with the epic tale on a personal level.

However, various sources have reportedly confirmed that the Ramayana English version is relatively shorter than the Hindi version. And let me tell you that it’s not by a minute or two but a whole 30 minutes. That’s a whole lot of screen time, which could also be crucial for a character building or a deeper understanding of the story.

To get further clarity on the matter, Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi were questioned about this decision during an interview to understand their thoughts. The interviewer asked them what exactly they may miss by watching the Ramayana Hindi version.

To this, Ranbir Kapoor immediately responded, saying, “Well then, you should go and watch the Hindi version. They cut a good 30 minutes.” I mean, fair enough.

The interviewer was gutted after learning earlier that songs were cut from the movie what are essentially a core part of any Hindi movie. Sai Pallavi added to it, saying that while songs were definitely cut, those were not the only parts. She said, “And it’s not all songs. There are also scenes from the movie.”

Yash added his points to the take, saying, “There are so many characters. People may not relate to it and understand it at this point in time. So, a collective decision was taken about what is the right length and what is the right presentation for it. And maybe if they like it and they want to dive deep into it, they can watch our Indian regional version. Even after that, if they want to know more about it, they can read the script.”

When asked if any dance sequences were cut, the cast assured that none were, with a collective ‘No!’ response.

The Ramayana English version reportedly has a runtime of around 2 hours and 45 minutes, while the Hindi version is 3 hours and 15 minutes.
