Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh’s flagship mass yoga initiative, Yogandhra 2026, has received international recognition from the World Book of Records for its large-scale public participation and successful promotion of yoga across the state. The official certificate was presented to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in Vijayawada on Sunday, by Dr. Ullaji Eliazer, Joint Secretary (South Region) of the World Book of Records.
State Health and AYUSH Minister Satyakumar Yadav said the award was received by the AYUSH Department and credited the achievement to the collective efforts of officials, trainers, and participants.
The state had set a target of involving 1.05 crore yoga enthusiasts under Yogandhra 2026, but participation surpassed expectations, with more than 1.07 crore people registering, marking a major milestone.
Officials said the programme was supported by a vast network of yoga trainers and gurus across the state, along with lakhs of participants from thousands of yoga centres. Large-scale yoga demonstrations and competitions were also held at multiple levels, with selected winners later named Yoga Brand Ambassadors to further promote the initiative across the state.
