
Hyderabad: Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Monday conducted a field inspection of the tourism development works at Bhongir Fort and reviewed the progress with officials.
He examined ongoing projects including the ropeway, hotel, parking facilities, restrooms, children’s play area, fort restoration works, cafeteria, interpretation centre, and other tourist amenities.
The Minister directed officials to complete all works by October 2. and instructed them to closely monitor the projects and ensure that work continues round the clock, if necessary. The Minister said that under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the State Government is giving special priority to tourism development.
He stated that Bhongir Fort is being modernized while preserving its historic grandeur. He also noted that the government is working towards developing an integrated spiritual and heritage tourism circuit connecting Yadadri, Bhongir Fort, and Kolanupaka.
The Central government has sanctioned the project “Development of Bhongir Fort Experiential Zone” at Bhongir, under Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0 with an approved project cost of Rs. 56.81 crore. The project aims to transform the historic Fort into a world-class tourism destination by integrating heritage conservation, visitor amenities, modern infrastructure, and a passenger ropeway system to enhance accessibility and visitor experience.
