Hailing from Malayalam cinema, Asin etched her way into Bollywood with her breakout role in Ghajini back in 2008, starring alongside Aamir Khan. She quickly became an household name with subsequent hits like London Dreams (2009), Ready (2011), and Housefull 2(2012 among many others. She stood firm to her ground rules and acted in movies on her own terms. In 2016, she got married to the co-founder of Micromax, Rahul Sharma, and quietly exit the industry, her last movie being All Is Well (2015).

In 2025, Rahul Sharma was interviewed, during which he spoke a bit about his marriage with Asin and how they have managed to keep their life so lowkey and distraction-free. For Rahul, Asin means everything, and he explicitly mentions just how much value she brings to his life. He said, “Marrying Asin was the most important thing that worked well for me. She is the rock behind me. If anything happens, whatever it is, she is the one who says, ‘Don’t worry… just move forward.’ She understands me and my passion. She is a firm believer in me. If you have such people around you, life becomes very easy.”

He continued to talk about how she is someone who lifts his spirits in darker times rather than shove him deeper. “Your partner should be someone who lifts you up, not someone who pulls you back. She is that person for me. She lifts me up. Her contribution to my life is more than I can explain.”

He added, “You are not only fighting a battle outside but also dealing with one at home, right? She is the one who takes care of the latter in our household. I have never met a person like her in my life.”

Rahul then shifted the narrative towards their young daughter, Arin. Being just seven years old, she harbours an impressive grasping power. “We have a beautiful daughter. She is just seven years old now (currently nine years old) but can already understand and speak around 12 languages, including Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Chinese. I find it difficult to speak even two languages.”

In this digital age, any form of tech device has become a necessity to keep connections, be updated, or many others. The family has collectively made efforts to ensure their daughter strays away from any distraction and focuses on developing her wits. He said, “We have not given Arin any screen time so far, no television or mobile phones. We only have books at home.”

He also added that they started giving her advanced books to read to further nurture her brain. “We probably have more books at home than Arin has at school. She is in Class 2 right now, but we already have books for Classes 8 and 9 at home. I joke from time to time, saying, ‘Let her sit for the Class 10 board exam as well. What difference does it make?’ It is all Asin’s contribution.”

Just recently, Asin shared a wholesome picture of her family, again masking herself aside, on the occasion of their festival, Onam. She captioned the photos, saying, “Spectator mood (Mode),” where she posted snaps of her husband and daughter, hard at work, creating a pookalam (flower rangoli).
