Mangaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President BK Hariprasad on Tuesday demanded a probe by a sitting Supreme Court judge into the alleged misappropriation of funds in Ayodhya and sought the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Speaking to reporters in Mangaluru to reports of alleged irregularities involving funds at Ayodhya, Hariprasad alleged that the BJP had turned Ayodhya.
“It is being reported that nearly Rs 200 crore has been misused or siphoned off in Ayodhya. The BJP has no respect for religious commitments. They have converted Ayodhya into a business and are stealing money donated by devotees,” he told reporters in Mangaluru.
Calling the allegations extremely serious, Hariprasad said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe would not be sufficient.
“An SIT will not yield any result. There should be a thorough investigation by a sitting Supreme Court judge,” he said.
“More than 1,000 people lost their lives because of the Ayodhya issue. Now, through the temple they are stealing the money. It is unfortunate and a matter of shame,” he said.
Demanding accountability, Hariprasad said Amit Shah should take responsibility for the controversy and step down from office.
“Mr Tadipar Home Minister Amit Shah should accept responsibility and resign,” he said.
