Hyderabad: Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital & Research Institute (BIACH&RI) has launched India’s first Roche Ventana DP 600 Digital Pathology System equipped with a 240-slide scanner, marking a major advancement in cancer diagnostics and precision medicine. The system, established with the support of the ICICI Foundation, was inaugurated on Thursday by actor and hospital chairman Nandamuri Balakrishna.
Hospital officials said the advanced digital pathology platform would improve the speed and accuracy of cancer diagnosis. The system enables blood and tissue sample slides to be digitally scanned and shared with doctors in high resolution for detailed examination.
Dr Sushila Kodandapani, head of the department of laboratory medicine and pathology, said that with the new equipment. scanned pathology slides could be viewed at nearly 80X magnification, allowing doctors to analyse tissue samples with greater precision and enabling faster and highly accurate diagnosis. “This technology will help pathologists review cases digitally with exceptional clarity, improving diagnostic efficiency and patient outcomes,” she said.
The event was attended by trust board members Dr Nori Dattatreyudu and J.S.R. Prasad, medical director Dr T.S. Rao, medical superintendent Dr Phani Koteswara Rao and associate director (academics) Dr Kalpana Raghunath.
