The Chicago Bears received encouraging news about quarterback Caleb Williams‘ hamstring injury, which isn’t serious and shouldn’t impact the long-term season. It’s definitely a sigh of relief for the organization and the entire city of Chicago.
Head coach Ben Johnson told reporters that Williams is week-to-week with his hamstring injury. While Johnson said the team doesn’t expect Williams to practice this week, they’re also not ruling him out for Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles next Monday night.

“This guy’s a little bit different than the average human being,” Johnson said. “…I’m not putting a timeline on this. We’re saying he’s week-to-week. He’s going to attack this.”

It would be a surprise if Williams were to play next Monday night against the Eagles after suffering a hamstring injury on Sunday, although he’s always managed to bounce back after some big hits. But Williams is the franchise quarterback, and the hope (and expectation) is that the organization will take their time and not rush him back.
The expectation is that backup quarterback Tyson Bagent, who signed a two-year, $10 million extension last summer, will get the start in Week 3 as Chicago battles Philadelphia at Soldier Field on Monday Night Football.
